On Thursday, Sept. 22, CL will throw its annual Best Of party at Graveyard Tavern and the Basement in East Atlanta to celebrate the special issue, which hits news racks that same day. And you, the fine folks who voted and help make the city so damn interesting, are invited! 4-IZE, The Wheeler Boys and Cousin Dan will provide musical entertainment. Blast-Off, Atlanta’s favorite “illegitimate sci-fi punk vaudeville burlesque collective,” will perform that peek-a-boo they do. And CL staffers and Best Of winners will party and enjoy complimentary food and drinks (while they last) to the sounds of DJ Martina McFlyy. The fun kicks off at 7 p.m. and goes until 11 p.m.

Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.

Lastly, a good friend is embarking on a huge life change. Chris Warner is closing Alcove, and Creative Loafing gave him a great writeup. It mentions that Blast-Off came into its own there.

BUT THEN, WE WON! Blast-Off was named both Reader Pick and Staff Pick this year… We’re thrilled, so we’re gonna throw down!

Here’s the scoop: it’s a late-night karaoke party… 11PM on October 8th at Eyedrum. Admission is donation to Eyedrum, so we ask that you help us to support one of the weirdest spots in town. (We’re kindred spirits with those Eyedrum folks, you know.)

The karaoke awesomeness will be provided by Yer 15 F@*#in’ Minutes Karaoke – they’ve got a gigantic library, including lots of surprises.

There will be beverages (sodas and some beer/wine for donation) and maybe some celebratory snacks, but if you need the high octane stuff, it’s okay to bring a discreet brown bag.
