As part of Flight of Swallows, I did an aerial net piece while five fantastic musicians created a unique version of Brazil. It’s Michelle Griffin’s lovely voice, Deisha Oliver on cello, Dickie Van Dyke on accordion, Terry Boling on the saw and Nathan Brown on the drums.

I also did a lyra act in tribute to Donnie Darko.

A Burlesque & Vaudeville Odyssey Inspired By Science Fiction

Blast-Off Burlesque presents The Future of TomorrowJune 17 and 19, 2010 at 7 Stages. Part of Blast-Off’s periodic SciFi-A-GoGo series, this neo-burlesque variety show returns Blast-Off to its science fiction-inspired roots.

The Future of Tomorrow features the premieres of several new ensemble and solo acts that will challenge preconceived notions of burlesque: beyond striptease, there will be drag and double-drag, acrobatics accompanied by live music, dance performance integrated with video, and much more. Some of the acts will be tributes to well-known stories, TV shows or movies; some will be Blast-Off’s unique take on what makes for sci-fi. Guest performances will be from Renea’ Le’Roux (a competitor for Miss Exotic World 2010), Katherine Lashe, Ursula Undress, Flight of Swallows, Hoopsy Daisy, and Reget St. Charles.

The feature shows on Saturday, June 19th are at 7:30 and 10PM. Admission is $15 in advance, $17 day of show. The preview show is at 9PM on Thursday, June 17; tickets are $10 advance and $12 at the door. Doors open approximately an hour prior to the show start time, and each show includes a 10-minute intermission. Next Blast-Off Show Is Set…

…for June 19th at 7Stages. It’s the latest in our SciFi-A-GoGo series, and will be called THE FUTURE OF TOMORROW!

We’re going back to our roots, with an all science fiction inspired show. Some of the acts will be tributes to well-known stories, TV shows or movies; some will be our own take on what makes for scifi. Either way, it’s gonna be some kind of something and you don’t want to miss it.

With 7Stages as our venue, the biggest change is that everyone gets a seat – a COMFY seat – with a clear view. Seating is limited, though, so we totally recommend buying in advance. We’ll be opening up ticket sales in a few weeks… every ticket is $15.

We’re still confirming our guests, but I do know we’ve got Renea Le’Roux, Ursula Undress, and Katherine Lashe.

Blast-Off Burlesque is paying homage to TV, especially the wacky shows and commercials of our youth, with our next SciFi-A-GoGo show. It’s a tribute to the boob tube: Primetime!

Our guests include Renea’ Le’Roux, Vagina Jenkins, and Hoopsy Daisy. I’m doing two aerial acts, too.

Tickets are $12 advance, $15 at the door; the door opens at 9 and the show is at 10 PM. East Atlanta Icehouse is a 21+ venue, too.
